by Mark Lane Have you noticed anything new at the field lately? Recent upgrades to the flying field have been completed. Over the last few months a group of volunteers has replaced the safety fencing that runs along the runway. This new fencing is reinforced and will no doubt withstand an impact by any errant plane. Additionally, Julian Schock built a new transmitter holder for those folks who fly fuel powered planes. Looks great Julian!
In addition to the new fencing, the old workbench/cabinet was demolished and replaced with a new work table. The old cabinet had become a haven for field mice and black widow spiders. After years of use and neglect, the top of the box was starting to sag under its own weight so a group of club carpenters put their minds together and designed a new work bench. The bench is covered with outdoor style carpeting and looks great! Special thanks to Holly Home of Vista for their donation of the carpet.
The future projects include replacing the pilot stations with newly designed and better quality stations. The design is yet to be determined. If you would like to volunteer your time or donate materials or money towards this project (or any project) please contact any one of the club officers listed on the "Club Officers" page. Your help will be greatly appreciated! The Wingmasters would like to officially thank everyone involved including Carl Diefenbach, Ellsworth Orr, Skip McGovern, Eric Woolen, Julian Schock, and Thom Harleman for the hard work they put in to help make these upgrades happen and make the field look great! See you at the field. |
